Lightnin' Guy wins the Belgian Blues Challenge and will represent Belgium at the European Blues Challenge in Berlin on 16 & 17 March 2012 posted 19-10-2011
It is with great pride that we can inform you that Lightnin' Guy won the belgian Blues Challenge. Lightnin' Guy and the Mighty Gators therefore will represent Belgium at the next European Blues Challenge to be held in Berlin on 16 and 17 March 2012.
A total of 4.674 people voted between September 20 and October 15. Lightnin' Guy received 41,1 % of the total votes. Which means that 1.921 blues fans showed their preference for him.
Lightnin' Guy is very happy with this win. He considers it as the result of three years of hard work within the Belgian Blues & Roots scene. He would love to thank everyone and anyone who voted for him and thereby expressed their support. We also want to stress that Lightnin' Guy & the Mighty Gators were the only ones among the competing bands with Flemish and Walloon musicians. This gives an even bigger Belgian touch to the win!
The second "European Blues Challenge" is an organization of the European Blues Union and will be held at the Kulturbrauerei in Berlin on 16 and 17 March 2012. 16 bands from 16 European countries will meet. The winner will be offered a spot during five prestigious European blues festivals.

Recording Live CD/DVD "Lightnin' Guy Plays Hound Dog Taylor" posted 28-06-2011
On the 6th of August Lightnin' Guy will record a live CD/DVD at the Borderline in Diest (B). He will pay tribute to Hound Dog Taylor by playing his music in the same setting as he did. Songs as: Take Five, Hawaiian Boogie, It's Allright, Give me Back My Wig, Let's Get Funky, Sadie … all are on the playlist. If you never got the chance to see "the Dog" live; this will be a perfect alternative to recapture the magic of a Hound Dog Taylor concert. The CD/DVD will be released later this year on the Blue Sting label of Parsifal Records.

NEWS & UPDATES posted 31-05-2010 • Lightnin' Guy went in to the studio on 16th of May and recorded 14 brand new songs that will be the foundations his the new album.

• The new Weissenborn guitar finally arrived. And it’s the most extraordinary guitar Guy ever played. He already includes it in the shows to give an extra acoustic touch to the sets.
• Bass player Dominique Buyse decided to quit the Mighty Gators due to its very intensive schedule. Karl Zosel, who played with K’s Choice, Raymond van het Groenewoud, Boogie Boy… is replacing him. The whole band would like to thank Dominiek for the beautiful moments on the road and wish him all the best of luck.
